In 2024, Ohio Living Cape May celebrated a year of many accomplishments. Their senior living and care were recognized with several awards by notable organizations.
Cape May had the best census in all of the Ohio Living communities for the 2024 fiscal year. They have been ranked ‘Best of Senior Living’ for four years in a row by A Place for Mom. Cape May also received a five-star rating for their skilled nursing unit by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. They were also recognized as a ‘Best Nursing Home’ by U.S. News and World Report.
In addition to this, Cape May completed renovations in 2024. They remodeled the third floor and replaced the roof on their central independent living facility.
In 2024, Cape May hosted many notable guests. Tim Goldrainer, lead singer of ‘The Menus’, performed for residents. Cape May also hosted Jim Serger, Mr. Redlegs, and Marty Brennaman, in addition to local leaders such as Clinton County Foundation Executive Director Alison Belfrage, Grief Recovery Specialist Renee Quallen, Wilmington College President Corey Cockerill, and Board of Elections Director Andrea Tacoronte.
Of the 138 total units at Cape May, there are 84 independent living units, 31 assisted living units, and 23 skilled nursing units. The senior living community has roughly 120 employees. Tom Dreyer, Director of Business Development, noted that the trends in care at Cape May are seeing individuals move into senior living homes earlier in age. Tom stated, “I think COVID put a scare into a lot of people and made them think about their future, but then also the local housing market has been so incredibly strong that people are able to get top dollar for their homes without needing to pay that here.”
Cape May also plans to enhance their memory care unit, as there is no comprehensive memory care center in Clinton County. They plan to focus on fundraising in 2025.
