WILMINGTON, OH (Jan. 31, 2025) - A first-of-its-kind memory care center in Clinton County has received a generous donation through the Ohio Living Foundation toward its development. The anonymous donors, who have provided underwriting support, are lifelong locals who see a critical need for memory care services in the community.
The new Memory Care Center of Excellence at Ohio Living Cape May will house 21 assisted living-style rooms, along with a dedicated courtyard for memory care residents. The Hearthstone Institute’s “I’m Still Here” philosophy and approach, which focuses on creating hope through meaningful engagement utilizing programs and resources designed specifically for those living with dementia, will be implemented at the new center.
As part of the “I’m Still Here” certification process, employees will receive extensive education and training in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, the different stages of dementia, communication techniques and life enrichment.
“As Ohioans age, a growing number will face memory impairment and loss, and Ohio Living is committed to providing best-in-class memory care services across all levels of living,” said Barb Lyon, chief development officer, Ohio Living Foundation. “Donors have enabled the expansion of our memory care program, and we are exceedingly grateful for their generous support.”
The Clinton County Community Foundation has also generously participated in making the Memory Care Center of Excellence a reality, through a gift focused on this employee education and training.
Funding for this project is ongoing. To support the new Memory Care Center of
